I Never Set Out to Build a Business. I Had to Rebuild Myself First.

There was a point in my life when I didn't know what came next.

I had experienced homelessness. I battled addiction. I've been to jail. I made choices that took me further away from the person I wanted to be, and there were moments when my life looked nothing like the life I had imagined for myself. I could have let those years become the definition of who I was.

But they weren't the end. They were the part of the story where I had to decide who I was going to become.

And that decision changed everything.

I started rebuilding my life the only way I knew how. One day at a time. One choice at a time. One piece at a time.

Looking back now, there's something almost poetic about it. Because today, that's exactly what I do for other people. I take something that isn't what it could be yet... and I help turn it into something beautiful.

Before I Was A Craftsman, I Was An Artist

I've been artistic for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I was always drawing. I was always creating. I was always looking at things differently. I didn't have the words for it back then, but I think I've always had what I now call an artist's eye.

I notice the details. The lines. The colors. The textures. The way light changes a room. The difference one small detail can make.

But art wasn't what I thought would pay the bills. My family was in the trades, so construction was the path that made sense. I went to work because I needed a job.

And I learned. I learned how to work with my hands. I learned what real craftsmanship requires. I learned that you can't rush something and expect it to come out right. I learned that the difference between good enough and great is often in the details nobody notices until they're missing.

And somewhere along the way, I realized something that changed the direction of my life: I didn't have to choose between being a craftsman and being an artist. I could be both.

The trades gave me the skills. Art gave me the vision. And when those two things came together, I found something that felt like it was meant for me.

I stopped looking at a wall as just a wall. I started seeing a canvas.

I stopped looking at outdated cabinets and seeing something that needed to be replaced. I started seeing what they could become.

I stopped looking at an empty room and seeing four walls. I started imagining the finished space—the colors, the textures, the finishes, the character, the feeling—and most importantly, the person's vision.

Because every client has a picture in their head. Sometimes they can explain it perfectly. Sometimes they can't. Sometimes they just know they want their home to feel different. They want it to feel like them. They want to walk through the door and be proud of what they see.

My job is to take that vision—whether it's fully formed or just a feeling—and figure out how to bring it into the real world.

That's what The DaVinci Touch means to me. It's not just a name. It's a philosophy.

The reveal.

The moment the project is finished. The tools are put away. The last detail has been completed. And the homeowner walks in.

For a few seconds, they just look.

Then you see it. That smile. That look of disbelief. That moment when they realize: "This is my home."

But now it looks the way they always wanted it to.

That reaction means more to me than I can explain. Because I know what transformation feels like. I've lived on the other side of it.

I've looked at things in my own life and wondered if they could ever become something different. I've learned that sometimes the hardest part isn't doing the work.

It's believing that something better is possible before you can see the finished result.

I don't tell you about the hardest parts of my life because I want you to feel sorry for me. I tell you because they're part of how I became the person I am today.

There were chapters I wish I could erase. But I've learned something:

You don't get to rewrite the beginning. You get to write what comes next.

And that's what I've done.

I took the things that once felt like they were destroying me and turned them into reasons to keep building.

I found purpose in my work. I found an outlet for the artist I'd always been. I found a way to use my hands, my experience, my creativity, and everything I've learned to create something that makes other people happy.

That's something I'm proud of.

Not because my story is perfect.

But because it isn't.

Because if there's one thing my life has taught me, it's that where you start doesn't have to determine where you finish.

A broken chapter doesn't mean a broken story. A setback doesn't mean the end. And something that doesn't look beautiful today doesn't mean it can't become something extraordinary tomorrow.
